As you all know I was most worried about the Ex-file and was thankfully released from that horror. The night was long and boring but I made it through and the next day we were met by only a few bumps in the road.

This weekend is jammed packed with fun! Tonight I'm going to the Pittsburgh Pirates' game. I'm not so much excited about this but am excited about being in the ball park with My Prince. Then tomorrow I'm going out to eat with My Prince, my Dad, his wife, and possibly the Royal Family. It should be a fun evening regardless. Finally, on Sunday we're going to My Prince's Grandma's house for his favorite crawfish dish. I hate it but it's fun to watch My Prince indulge in this once a year treat.

Happy Friday,

~FC

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-27T16:53:07Z</dcterms:modified>

The Ex-File – Mixed with a bit of ‘Strange’ and ‘Happiness’

Carrie Quote of the Day: (I’ve missed these! How about you?)

Carrie: When a relationship dies do we ever really give up the ghost or are we forever haunted by the spirits of relationships past.”

The Ex-File

Does a weekend “fling” constitute as an “ex-file”? Well, in my world it does. Here are my points:

q You get that same horrified feeling inside when you know you are going to be in the presence of that person

q All of the memories of the time spent together come flooding back

q You go out and buy a few new shirts to look good even though you look worse than the last time you saw them

q You are secretly happy that you’ve “put on a few pounds” since the last time you saw them because then this should thwart them off from thinking that there will be a repeat of what happened last time

q You are happy that you have pictures of your current Love hanging up in your cubicle

q And if you still don’t agree with me… how about, “someone who has seen you out of your clothes” should change your mind

I am in the horrible situation of being faced with this ex-file tomorrow and Thursday. I’m trying to think of different ways that I can get out of this encounter and keep coming up short. I just can’t wait until Friday when all of this will be behind me. Oh, I just had another thought! I have several new adorable girls running around the office this time compared to last time. Unfortunately those girls will only be around for about an hour after the arrival of the ex-file tomorrow. I have to beg, plead, and bribe my manager into staying with me the whole time tomorrow night; I just hope she plans to stick around. (Mental note: Send e-mail to manager after posting this to find out if she plans on staying and if not BEG!) If nothing else this encounter should end up being a good post. Send me a few good luck vibes that all goes over smoothly and let it be over as quickly as ripping off a band-aid really fast.

*EDIT UPDATE: I just noticed that I failed to tell you why this is happening. My office is doing a network upgrade and this ex-file is part of the project. Actually he will be the one in charge of making this project happen. So, yeah… “awkward” is the understatement of the year.

Strange

It sounds like my “safety net” of being able to live with my Mom this summer has a few holes in it. Her Royal Highness (my step-sister) had moved out of my Mom’s house and in with her boyfriend. Well she now wants to come back home. I was supposed to get her room and now I’ll be getting the much smaller room. That’s assuming that my Mom still has this house to live in come August since her landlords are thinking of selling the house (and Mom doesn’t have enough money to buy the house). FUN STUFF going on here! I talked to My Prince about all of this and he said he would be speaking to The Queen (his Mom) soon about having me move in with them. Whisper a prayer for me that she will let me do this, please?

Happiness

My Prince and I have been in perfect harmony together these past few months, it’s been GREAT! I thought I’d mention this since I do a lot of whining and complaining here about how depressed I am and how horrible life is. We have another fun filled packed weekend coming up. My Prince’s Aunt and family will be coming here this week from Louisiana. On Friday we will be going to the baseball game to see the Pittsburgh Pirates versus the New York Yankees. Then on Saturday, My Prince and I will be going out with my Dad and his wife for my birthday dinner. Sunday we will be going to My Prince’s Grandma’s house for a famous Crawfish dish that My Prince LOVES. I’ve tried to get the recipe from his Aunt but she won’t share. Go figure…

So I am blissfully happy in Love and I don’t care how mushy that sounds because it’s TRUE! My Prince makes me weak in the knees and my heart flutter.

I’ll keep you posted on how my week goes,
~ FC

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-24T14:25:52Z</dcterms:modified>

Birthday Celebrations

Warning: In the fourth paragraph there is a small spoiler about Sex and the City. I’m sure most of the world knows this information, but those of you who are a bit behind like I was, don’t read it!

My personal “birthday bash” day went over just as I had planned. There were very few glitches along the way. On Tuesday night I went to my local BlockBuster Video Store and became a member. I rented the rest of the Sex and the City seasons I did not see yet. I bought myself a half chocolate half strawberry milkshake from McDonald’s and went home for the night. I spent the rest of my evening watching Sex and the City. I ended up staying up way past my bedtime and it felt great!

On Wednesday I slept in until 10:45am. I then continued my Sex and the City marathon until 12:00. I then took a shower to get ready to have lunch with My Prince. I finally indulged on a craving I’ve been having for a very long time. For lunch I ordered a cheeseburger, French fries with cheese, and a peanut butter cup milkshake. I have no idea why this has been a craving of mine but I decided it was my birthday and I could indulge in it if I wanted to. I ate half of my burger, not even half of my fries, and drank the whole milkshake. I was SO full! I will not be doing that again for a very, very, long time!

After lunch I went to a nail place to get a “Spa Treatment Pedicure”. It was fabulous!!! I’ve never had a pedicure done because I don’t like the idea of people touching my feet (especially my toes). But this was a GREAT treat for my birthday. During the pedicure I sat in a special chair that massaged my back, my feet were sitting in a pool of water that had jets in it to massage my feet, while my feet were being prepared for the pedicure. I can’t believe how much I enjoyed it! I highly recommend it to anyone even if you are freaked out by the idea of someone touching your feet.

Then I went home to continue my S and C marathon. I was disappointed to find out that I was missing a few episodes in seasons five and six. So, when I return the series I rented I’ll be looking for the ones I was missing. I can’t wait to see the movie! One of the biggest disappointments though was finding out that “Mr. Big’s” real name is “John”. That is way too ordinary a name for Mr. Big.

Once My Prince was done working he came and picked me up for a wonderful dinner out at the “Cheesecake Factory”. I ordered a portabella mushroom sandwich and it was delicious! I also had my very first Mojito and enjoyed it as well. Of course we had to have a piece of cheesecake! We ordered a chocolate peanut butter cheesecake and I was ready to die! I had the perfect day off from work with the perfect food and the perfect guy.

My birthday celebrations are continuing this weekend as well. I’m hoping that My Prince rents me a Mustang for tomorrow to drive around in (hey if you can’t own one, why not rent one for the day?) and then on Sunday my Mom is having a BBQ for me at her house.

Tomorrow is my birthday and since getting older isn’t fun any more I try to distract myself from that fact. So, last week I requested a vacation day for tomorrow. I am SO glad I did. What a wonderful gift to give myself? This is what I plan to do with my day off. I’m going to sleep in. As in sleep until my body wakes me up and not an alarm. I’m going to workout (can’t skip this, especially on my birthday with all the goodies I intend on having), shower, and then get my first ever pedicure. I told My Prince at the beginning of this month that “I wanted to do something on my birthday that I’ve never done before.” I’ve always wanted to try a pedicure so tomorrow I will. I’m also going to go to my local video store and rent as many seasons of “Sex and the City” as possible. I’m dying to see the movie but want to see the complete series before I do. Right now I own seasons 1 through 3. I’ve seen several episodes from the other seasons but want to see ALL of them. Then I’m going to meet My Prince for lunch and will proceed to consume a cheeseburger with cheese fries and a milkshake, which of course means I’ll have to workout again. I will spend the rest of my day alternating between watching “Sex and the City” and reading a book outside in the sun. Once My Prince is done with work we will then go to the Cheesecake Factory where I will delight in some more goodies. I can hardly wait to start!

It’s official, my apartment has been rented to someone else and I hate the way it feels. I have until August and then I have to get out because someone else will be living in my home. I won’t feel so bad about this if I can live with My Prince and the Royal Family. But if I have to go live with my Mom and the Evil Step Father, it’s going to be hell on earth. Please whisper a prayer for me that the Royal Family loves me enough to take me in until My Prince and I find our own place.

I spoke with the guy who I’ve been in contact with regarding that job opportunity I wanted this summer. He didn’t mention anything about anyone else already having the position and told me he “promised” to call me as soon as he knew anything. He also spoke of having me still “join the team”. So things are still up in the air apparently. It’ll be interesting to see where every thing finally lands. I’m not holding my breath though. I’m still keeping the frame of mind that the position has been filled.

I guess that’s it for now.

Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday I found out that the job opportunity I was looking forward to getting this summer is no longer available to me. The job was for a school district as their Network Administrator. The reason I didn't get it (or the opportunity to even be considered) was because since they are a union they offered the job to everyone inside of the union first and only if no one wanted it would they start to look in the public. Some one wanted it... and some one got it. They didn't even interview me. To say that I'm disappointed is an understatement. I had at least wanted a chance to get this job and I didn't even get that.

With that being said, My Prince and I now have the freedom to look for a house where ever we want. My Prince and I are now discussing the idea of me moving into his parents' house once I'm "kicked out" of my apartment instead of moving in with my Mom who lives on the opposite side of the city (but would have been the side I needed to be on for this new job).

I guess I really had my hopes up for this job opportunity even though I tried to keep my feelings in check. I just feel trapped in this job that I can't stand. Even when I have opportunities made known to me, I still can't get out.

I just... don't know.

The reason for my recent absence is due to the fact that there really isn't anything interesting going on right now. I'm just doing a lot of the same stuff every day. My Prince and I are still looking for a house, I'm still packing for the move, I'm still waiting to hear back about the job opportunity this summer, and I'm still waiting to see if the Penguins will pull off a win for the Stanley Cup after all!

Work has been keeping me rather busy lately. We just had two people who were fired which made my work life a little complicated. At the same time we're getting new people in who need to be trained and set up on the network. I enjoy being busy at work though. It definitely helps with the time going by faster.

My Prince and I both got sick last week. Unfortunately, My Prince had a worse case than me. But I think we're both on our way to recovering.

We also braved going to Kennywood park for the first time this season. I love going to Kennywood. It means summer has started, the rides are great, and just remembering all the memories that were made there is great! They also added a new ride for this year which of course we just had to check out. It was a bit disappointing but I'd ride it again.

In the "book world" I fell back into the Twilight series. I had a work meeting that was mandatory that I go to but had nothing to do with my department. They just wanted me there for "just in case" of technical difficulties. The hostess of the meeting even advised me to "bring a book". Since I've already read through my entire library at home I had to pick something I've already read. I went with the Twilight book and I'm glad I did. I'm now re-reading New Moon and am just falling in love with this series all over again.

I've been rather stressed out over the fact that my landlord put up "For Rent" signs in my yard. It's a constant reminder that come August I will no longer live there. She's also showing my apartment today and tomorrow to prospective tenants. I HATE IT! I've also been packing up my stuff to prepare for the pending move. In case I haven't mentioned it, I'll be moving in with my Mom and the Evil Step-Father if My Prince and I don't find anything before August. I'd really rather not do that, but the more the days go on the more it looks like it might come down to that. We'll see. I hate the idea of leaving my home for living with the Evil Step-Father. If it were just my Mom I'd be thrilled at the idea. But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

That's all I have for now. GO PENS!!!

My fingers are crossed and I'm hoping for the best. Also, My Prince and I have been pre-approved for over the amount of money that we need for the house that we are interested in. We will be making an offer on the house either today or tomorrow. Either way I'm rather excited about it. I can't wait to live with My Prince.

This weekend was great! My beloved Penguins won their game yesterday afternoon and will be playing again tomorrow against the Philadelphia Flyers which will definitely be interesting. My Prince and I with my Dad and Step-Mom went over to see the house that we are interested in which means I got to see it again. I like it more every time I see it.

With the beautiful spring weather I've become more active. I've been walking outside a ton and have even been doing some home exercises. I hope to jump on the weight loss wagon again and see what happens.

I'll report more when I know more.

My Prince and I are still thinking of buying that perfect house I had mentioned earlier. Right now we’re in the process of seeing how much the bank will be willing to loan us.

These are some exciting things going on but I’m still waiting.

I thought this was great for when I go on my walks, riding my stationary bike, or walking on my treadmill so that the evil neighbor lady doesn’t yell at me for having the tv on at 5:00 in the morning. But I was wondering, does listening to an audio book count as having “read” a book? I will admit, since you all already know how obsessed I am with books, that I felt cheated out of the actual reading aspect of listening to the audio book. But I am definitely hooked on this new discovery. I thought it would be perfect for me since I already had an MP3 player, the iPod Nano. But, unfortunately for me, the audio book format does not work on iPods. I then decided to look at which MP3 players they would work on. The cheapest one was $38.00. So, naturally I decided I didn’t need this cool form of entertainment and that I would just keep it old school and listen to my tunes on my iPod. Only that stupid cheap MP3 player was calling my name. Then once I found out Wal-mart had it for $35.00 that was the end of me. I had to have it! So, now I’m the owner of a SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 player and love it because it plays my audio books. YAY!

Also, my beloved Penguins have just won game 3 of their first round of NHL playoff games. One more win and they can move on past Ottawa, YAY! I won’t mention that I’m dying to have one of these. I also won’t mention my ongoing obsession with HIM. And just in case you don’t know who HE is by looking at those pictures of HIM, click HERE. But for those of you not willing to click on any of those links, this is who I’m talking about:

Obsessed much? Uh… Yeah!

As far as the whole “crazy FC” saga goes… I’m still crazy. I think the meds are helping but I’m still not back to normal (whatever that may be). I’m trying but am still feeling held back by something. That’s the best I can explain it. But I’m just trying to take things one day at a time.

Last but not least My Prince and I found this amazing house last weekend. Unfortunately this house is on the wrong side of town because it’s on my current side of town and not my “maybe soon to be” side of town if I get this job I want this summer. But it is perfect in every sense of the word. It’s a great size for us, great location, has a wonderful neighborhood, doesn’t need any work done, and the price is in our price range. But I need to wait and see if I’m going to get this job or not first before we can do anything *sigh*.

If I don’t get this job, I think I might just quit my current job and run off to marry him:

Good plan B, don’t you think?

~ FC

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-15T13:11:54Z</dcterms:modified>

Good Day

I've been complaining a lot on here so I figured I just had to post today even though I don't have much to say because I'm feeling very happy today. I did do my exercises yesterday just like I said I was going to so I felt better about the brownie (thank you for your comments by the way). Plus, I went out with My Prince to look at a potential house that would have been perfect except for the price tag. My Prince is going to try and get the guy to come down on the price but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Plus, the Penguins won their game last night which was very exciting! The best part is I get to go to their second playoff game tomorrow night! I'm VERY excited about this because I've never been to a hockey playoff game. I'm also trying to get my office manager to let us do a Penguins day tomorrow since the city is doing a "Penguin Jersey" day tomorrow. But we'll see what happens. I also spent the night with My Prince last night (which is always a wonderful thing) and woke up this morning in his arms (another wonderful thing). It's a beautiful day so far outside! I also got my fingerprints done this morning for that job I'm hoping to get this summer. So overall I would say I'm having a pretty fabulous Thursday.

I apologize for the one big paragraph, but I'm in a hurry so this is what you're getting.

Happy Friday Eve!

I haven’t been posting in a while because I didn’t know what to post about. I still don’t know what to post about but figured I’d just ramble on a bit so you all don’t think I just fell off the earth.

First, I’m glad to report that I am feeling better. I don’t know if it’s just the meds, the walking, or the therapy or perhaps all three combined but I’m feeling better than what I was. Yesterday was a great “mood” day for me. Meaning that I was feeling rather good yesterday and happy. The best part is that it seems to have carried over into today as well. But I’m not going to tell you any of that because I might jinx it, lol.

My Prince and I have been looking for a place to live and well, My Prince thinks he’s found the perfect place for us. I like the place as well I just have my reservations on the whole subject mainly due to the fact that I have a job opportunity coming up this summer and it would involve us moving to another part of the city than where this house is. The job requires me to live in that part of the city, no exceptions. But, I don’t have the job… yet. But we’ll see what happens I suppose.

My sister and her ex-fiancé are still living together and it would seem he is going to move with her at the end of this month. What will happen from there, who knows? All we can do is sit and wait to see what the idiot decides to do.

Also, I just watched the movies: Becoming Jane, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (with Johnny Depp), Eragon, and In Her Shoes. I enjoyed Becoming Jane if you are a Jane Austen fan than this movie is definitely for you. It’s romantic and heart breaking. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a bit of a let down. Call me old fashioned if you will but I like the older version, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, of this movie better. Johnny Depp was just creepy in it (which I suppose he was supposed to be). Eragon was absolutely fabulous! I do recommend reading the book first (which is what I did), but I thought the movie complimented the story well. In Her Shoes was very close to being like the book and was very enjoyable. Again, I recommend reading the book first though because the movie leaves out some fun things and background information that might confuse you.

Speaking of Eragon I’m reading Eldest which is the sequel to Eragon and of course I’m loving this book! It has quite a bit of action in it from an unexpected source and a lot of drama. It’s amazing that this young author was able to create such an exquisite world full of magic and wonder.

My good mood also may be due to the fact that one of the horrific managers here in my office will be out over the next few weeks. Today is the first day that she is out and the atmosphere in the office is so much lighter than when she is here.

Well, I think that is enough randomness for today. I cannot thank you all enough for your kind words and support.

I feel like someone put me in a cardboard box labeled “FC’s Life” and taped it shut. No matter where I go, what I do, or who tries to help me I end up going through a lot of emotions and jumping through hoops of fire only to find myself standing on the same side before I jumped. I’m living a life of Groundhog Day Monday through Friday. The first ten minutes of Joe Versus the Volcano is my life.

I got a lead on a job opening from a brother of a friend. I talked to this stranger on the phone more times than I can count, I typed up more e-mails to him than I can count, and bought and sat through a lunch with this person all in hopes that he could help me get a new job. In the end they didn’t want me. I don’t blame this brother of a friend for that but I’m mad as hell at life for making me do all of those things that I didn’t want to do and come out empty handed. I’ve been struggling to get out of this job position for what feels like forever.

I also feel trapped with my emotions. It’s like I can’t put into words what I’m feeling or what I’m going through. It’s frustrating because I’m paying a doctor to listen to me talk and I’m finding it extremely difficult to say what I need to say. She wants me to go for a 30 minute walk every night, to write in a journal, and try to think of one positive thing when laying down to go to bed for the night (I haven’t been sleeping well).

Since there’s been no one at home after work I’ve been going home and eating my weight in food. I’ve been using food as a crutch of sorts and I can feel the damage that it’s doing to my body but it’s like my common sense switch is just turned off and I don’t care. Before all of this if I’d come home and eat the way that I am I’d feel so guilty and talk myself out of getting so out of control. But that voice seems to have been tied up and gagged by the Depression bad guy.

It’s hard for me to put this information out there… but here it is.

To say that I've been depressed is an understatement. Every day becomes harder and harder for me to talk myself out of bed and go to work. Every day it becomes harder for me to go home and do the things that I normally do to take care of my home(i.e. grocery shopping, laundry, washing dishes, etc.). I often find myself tearing up for no reason at all. My pajamas are my most favorite outfit to wear regardless of who is around or where I am going. I hurt my back about seven weeks ago and have been skipping Curves for three weeks now, I'll find out on Friday if it's a pinched nerve since the pain is in my left leg as well. My job has been just as tortorous as usual and my plan to ask for a bigger raise this year was denied. Speaking of crappy jobs My Prince is having a very hard time at work as well. On Saturday I'm going to try to talk to someone else... lets hope it turns out better than my last attempt.

I had a moment like that today in life so here is the first (and probably last, we'll see, I'm being optimistic) "Moment of the Day That Made Me Smile":

An exchange between myself and a co-worker, lets call him Ryan:

Ryan: Hello, FC! *Big smile on his face* How are you doing? *wink*

FC: I'm doing ok, thanks for asking *smiles back* How are you?

Ryan: I'm doing excellant! *pause* You know, I always smile when I see you. For some reason you always make me feel like smiling.

FC: Wow! Thanks, perhaps it's my charming personality *giggle, smile*

Ryan: Perhaps *bigger smile* something like that...

Then he went on to tell me a story about a girl scout. It was an entertaining story and made me smile. So there you have it folks the "Moment of the Day That Made Me Smile". It definitely made me feel good on a Monday.

*Note: Don't get any ideas about this interaction being anything but friendly. Ryan is happily married, with a son, and is fifteen years older than me. He feels like the older brother I've always wanted. Not to mention you all know that I am hopelessly in love with My Prince.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-02-25T17:49:07Z</dcterms:modified>

Busy, Messed Up, Beaten, and even a bit Battered.

I've been through so much this week I can barely remember the beginning.
My school days are numbered down to two (if you count tonight). Next Tuesday is my Final Exam for the class that I am currently taking and I’m rather nervous. I haven’t had to take a Final in five years! But this one is supposed to be open book (I never understood that concept). That makes me relieved and nervous at the same time. I’m relieved because all the answers will be right there all I have to do is find them. But I’m also nervous because we haven’t been using the book! Hopefully tonight my Professor will enlighten us a bit more on what to expect.

The next semester for school starts in January and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to attend or not. I’m sort of counting on my Christmas bonus to help pay for my next class(es). Before I invest more money into this career choice though I’m desperately trying to find a volunteer group or internship to give me hands on experience. I want to make sure this is something that I really want to do before I invest a ton of money and time into it.

I have a few things to look further into and with any kind of hope I’ll be able to get a first hand look at what I’m facing or trying to tackle. I e-mailed my Professor asking him for information or a recommendation of a volunteer group or internship and he referred me to another group of Professors; so tonight I’ll be working hard to find out who they are and if they can help me. It’s tough for someone like me to get into a volunteer program or internship when I work full-time. Plus, this subject that I’m looking into doesn’t really involve off-business hours type of help or schedule. So, I’m crossing my fingers that I end up lucky enough to find something.

When <s>(I won’t say “if”)</s> I find this hands on opportunity and take a bit of a “test drive” in this field I’ll let you know what I’ve been up to. I’m just hoping that I’m choosing correctly. No one ever warned me that choosing a career field would be this hard (lol). One of my concerns is that I won’t like this and will have to start all over again researching and investigating other career fields. This is quite time consuming and I’d like to move on soon. My current job/career field is killing me!

I also found a job posting that I’m going to try for it says, “Experience not required but preferred.” The fact that they even put “Experience not required” out there makes me want to apply, so here’s hoping!

This has been consuming most of my free time. The other thing that is taking up my spare time is I’m looking for a new place to live. My Prince and I are going to shoot for next summer when my lease is up to move in together. I’m pretty excited about that.

All in all I guess I’m doing ok, I just wish I could find everything that I’m looking for and begin to move forward with my life.

Until then, I’ll just keep my nose to the grindstone.

Happy Tuesday,
~ Fat Chick

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-12-04T17:26:44Z</dcterms:modified>

"I Need To Wake Up" Song

This is how I've been feeling lately. I hope I can find something to change things up, soon!

Have I been sleeping?
I’ve been so still
Afraid of crumbling
Have I been careless?
Dismissing all the distant rumblings
Take me where I am supposed to be
To comprehend the things that I can’t see

Cause I need to move
I need to wake up
I need to change
I need to shake up
I need to speak out
Something’s got to break up
I’ve been asleep
And I need to wake up
Now

And as a child
I danced like it was 1999
My dreams were wild
The promise of this new world
Would be mine
Now I am throwing off the carelessness of youth
To listen to an inconvenient truth

That I need to move
I need to wake up
I need to change

I need to shake up
I need to speak out
Something’s got to break up
I’ve been asleep
And I need to wake up
Now

I am not an island
I am not alone
I am my intentions
Trapped here in this flesh and bone

Oh I need to move
I need to wake up
I need to change
I need to shake up
I need to speak out
Something’s got to break up
I’ve been asleep
And I need to wake up
Now

I want to change
I need to shake up
I need to speak out
Oh, Something’s got to break up
I’ve been asleep
And I need to wake up
Now

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-12-03T20:49:43Z</dcterms:modified>

Nothing too exciting...

There's not much to add from the last time I posted. I'm on day 15 of being a vegetarian which means I have 15 more days to go for it to be a whole month. So, far this new lifestyle hasn't thrown me through too many loops. There are only two main down sides to this and they are: 1. it's hard to eat vegetarian at the places that My Prince and I eat out to regularly and 2. some of the cravings are hard to ignore. It's kind of a catch 22. When I think of eating meat I think of those poor animals and what they go through before getting to my plate but at the same time some dishes just smell so good.

I don't really miss meat though. The part that's proving to be the real challenge is the "Vegan" part of me. I want to stay away from dairy and chemicals as much as possible. But you know as well as I do that when you eat out you're lucky to get a vegetarian option let alone a vegan option. The exciting part is trying out all of these new foods. I'm starting to take a liking to tofu. If done right, tofu can be rather yummy!

I just told my Dad this weekend that I was eating vegetarian and he had no problems with it. He even told me that he'd have plenty of veggies for me at Thanksgiving. My Mom took it rather well too, she was just bummed out that I wouldn't be learning how to make her cabbage rolls. She said she doesn't know the measurements and that you have to taste it as you make it, so that kind of makes it hard for me to make it.

It has put a bit of a strain on my relationship with My Prince. He's not telling me that I shouldn't be doing it but he has expressed his surprise, concerns, and even sadness over my choice. It's weird how much a food choice can change things when you don't think it makes that much of a difference to begin with.

But enough of that already, on the up side of things in another ten days we'll be celebrating Light Up Night here in 'Da Burgh. Also, it was a great night for sports here last night. Our hockey team walked away with a 5-0 shut out against the Devils and the Steelers walked away with a victory against the Ravens 38-7, YAY!!!!

I have a quiz tonight in my class, wish me luck!

Happy Tuesday,

~ Fat Chick

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-11-06T19:36:03Z</dcterms:modified>

Isn't Life Interesting?

Last Thursday (10-11-07) was my last day at Curves for the volunteer group I signed up for. Since it was my last day they wanted to weigh me, give me a body fat analysis, and take my blood pressure reading. To my surprise I found out that in the three weeks that I’ve been volunteering for this study I’ve lost 3lbs., 2% body fat, and lowered my blood pressure. Color me happy! I think I need to sale my home scale (anyone interested? lol) because according to it I have not lost that 3lbs. nor have I gone down 2% in body fat. Curves uses your typical doctor’s scale that we all love to hate and they have a high tech digitized scanner for body fat. I think I’ll take their word for it that they are correct. After all, they are the experts, right?

I’ve also have grown so used to my weekly routine of working out there three times a week that I’ve signed up and am now a full fledge member of Curves. The women there are so nice and the workout routine changes so much that I don’t get bored. I’m very happy that I found Curves and highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about trying them out.

As for my idea that I mentioned in my last post, I think I’m actually on to something. I am the Maid of Honor for my sister’s wedding, which means I’ll be immensely involved with the wedding planning and helping of coordination. With this being said I asked her if I could be her official wedding planner. She was more than thrilled with the idea because she feels completely overwhelmed and informed me that she is very unorganized with all of the details that she’s gathered so far. I’m planning on purchasing wedding planner software to help keep me organized. I really hope I can make this take off for something to do in my spare time and for some extra cash on the side.

I’ve already designed her ‘Save the Date’ cards, which is one less expense she doesn’t need to worry about. I also showed it to a few of my single co-workers who all but practically begged me to design some for them as well. I’m going to put my name out there and see if I get any bites. I think this would be a wonderful adventure to try and embark on.

Also, a local gift basket business is looking for holiday help in my neighborhood. I’m thinking about giving them a call to see if it’s something I might be able to stick my hand into as well. I could use the extra cash and if all goes well, perhaps, I could strike up a business relationship with them and use them as a vendor for my wedding planner future.

I feel like I’m really putting myself out there and am on my way of discovering who I am and what makes me happy. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Stay tuned!
~ Fat Chick

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-10-15T13:23:12Z</dcterms:modified>

Has it been a whole week already?

I can’t believe it’s been a whole week since I’ve lasted posted. I’ve been meaning stop in here and put something up but every time I tried I got interrupted.

So, lets start with my weigh in today. It’s Wednesday, which means over at Tales from the Scales I need to post my loss or gain. Well, this week I simply stayed the same. I didn’t gain or lose anything this week. I’m getting pretty tired of seeing that same number on the scale. I think I need to go see a nutritionist. It seems like every time I try to alter my food intake I either gain or stay the same and just sometimes lose. We’ll see, I’m still pushing on.

Last weekend My Prince and I went to our first ‘haunted house’. It wasn’t so much a ‘house’ as it was a bunch of portable trailers. You know the kind you get for storage? It was… different to say the least. We went to “Terrors by the Lake”. We were both very excited about going back here because two years ago (I think it was that long) they had a fire and closed up. So, when I discovered they had returned we knew we had to go back. When we arrived we were skeptical about going through it. I asked a group of people who came out if it was worth the money to go in. The guy in the group shrugged and said, “Yeah, I guess so.” The girl in the group said, “Are you easily scared?” I replied with, “No” and she said, “Then probably not.” Well, of course we didn’t listen to the wise and knowing girl and went inside. It was disappointing. Now don’t get me wrong it wasn’t horrible but I have a high standard for when it comes to haunted houses.

When I was in high school I worked for a haunted house so I became slightly desensitized to haunted houses. I learned all of the tricks and once I figured out that all of the ‘monsters’ were just people like me trying to scare me I started laughing every time I went through haunted houses. I more or less go for the props, cool costumes/make-up, to see other people who are more easily scared go through screaming, and to see if anyone can actually catch me off guard and scare me. Meaning, I still have a good time going I just laugh instead of scream, which doesn’t always make the actors/actresses too happy.

So with all of that being said I tend to be more lenient when I judge haunted houses and this one was just not that great. Take the kiddies to this one because adults and teenagers probably won’t get too much out of it.

I had my class again last night and was disappointed to find out that I got a B- on my quiz. I wasn’t surprised exactly, just disappointed with myself I suppose. But I have another quiz next Tuesday so I can do my best to make up for it then or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Speaking of my future, I came up with an idea yesterday that I think I’m going to enjoy immensely but first I need to gain a little experience before I can jump in. With that being said, the only hint I’m going to give is that my sister is getting married next October and I’m hoping she’ll help me with the start of my little endeavor. I’ll keep you posted.

I think I rambled on long enough and will wrap this up. But one last thing before I do, tonight I’m going to the Penguins’ game and am SO excited! As it goes, work had me incredibly busy so unfortunately I’m posting my weigh in a day late.

This week I’m up .4lbs. I’m not thrilled but not devastated either. My Prince’s Dad made his famous meatloaf, with a side of broccoli, and a nice piece of Tuscany bread on Sunday. Then there was dessert… oh yes the dessert. It was a delicious strawberry cake, with a mound of ice cream on top, and chocolate topping over it all. So, am I surprised I’m up instead of down? Nope, not in the least bit surprised. I must remember “portion control” on the weekends. No matter how good the meal is! Other than that I did well with the rest of my food last weekend. My Prince and I even went for a long walk after we indulged in his Dad’s famous recipe, so I’m sure it could have been worse.

Also, I’m still going to Curves, I’m a bit bummed because I only have four sessions left before it is over. I would like to join but My Prince and I are planning on living together next year and might move in to a place that has a gym. I hate being in this position because if I don’t sign up for a membership at Curves my luck we won’t move into a place with a gym. But if I do, we’ll most likely end up living somewhere that does have a gym. I’m torn! I really like the environment at Curves. All of the women are so nice and the equipment is really easy to use as well as challenging. Not to mention it’s located at a very convenient location for me. So that even when I do move with My Prince it’ll still be within a reasonable distance from where we would live.

While I’m on the subject of weight loss and food let me just say that I tried these New Carmel Apple Weight Watcher Muffins and they are fan-tas-tic! I love these because they have that fall flavor without all of the calories. I will be stocking up on these. I’m also almost through my box of Curves Honey Crunch Cereal and am thoroughly enjoying it. It also helps that 1 serving is 1 cup. But the flavor is great and I’m eager to try the Whole Grain Crunch next.

Ok enough food talk; lunch is still another few hours away.

I have some great, fantastic, fabulously wonderful news (can you tell I’m excited?)! Last Tuesday I had a quiz in my class that I’m still not telling you what it is for. I was extremely nervous about this quiz and studied for it like it was my midterm. When I got the quiz the whole second page troubled me. The first page I did rather well on, I was certain of that, but that second page threw me off and I decided to attack it with what I thought was right and wrote ‘til my little heart’s content.

Well, this Tuesday we were having another quiz and were told that after that quiz to come out into the hallway and discuss last week’s quiz with the Professor. I was shaking in my knees as it was about what my grade was going to be and now I had to let my Professor torture me further by telling me what kind of a failure I was. Needless to say I was not happy. Finally, when I finished my current quiz I very timidly walked out into the hallway. My Professor seemed pleased to see me and pulled out my paper. I looked at it and saw nothing but pencil marks all over it. I was crushed! But my Professor just scanned down the front page doing little, “mmm-hmm’s” and turned to the second page and pointed out my grade to me. You would not have believed my relief when I saw a 100% on there and my Professor smiling at me. He even said, “You really know your stuff!” Then he scanned the paper again and found a question and read it to me and pointed out my answer to me. He said, “You know, you are one out of two people in all of my classes this term to get this answer right.” He said, “I started to think I didn’t cover it until I saw word for word (as he pointed at my answer’s words) that you answered it exactly right.” I wanted to cry and kiss him! LOL He beamed at me from ear to ear and finished with a, “Good job!” I was flying! (I think I still am)

The class has been a big stress on me. For starters, I’ve never studied this subject before. Oh, wait, that’s a lie. I touched on this subject in high school… seven years ago. Not only have I not studied this subject extensively but also, I’m not currently employed in this field. Where as most of my classmates are employed in this field, have been studying this subject, and are working on Associate/Bachelor Degrees. It definitely made me feel good in a world that is so foreign to me (or rather not so much) to do so well. I’m actually considering putting my resume out to a few job postings I’ve found or volunteering somewhere to gain more insight on the subject. I want to be certain before I jump in. But you can bet I’m doing my happy dance, regardless.

So, how’s that for a post? LOL

Happy Friday Eve,
~ Fat Chick

P.S. Check out Tales from the Scales and see how everyone else did or even to join the challenge!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-10-04T13:40:46Z</dcterms:modified>

Saving This for a Rainy Night

Yesterday evening I went to my second Curves session and decided I really like the workout. The women there are so nice and make you feel right at home. This makes me happy because I know the remainder of my time there will be enjoyable but it makes me sad at the same time. My finances are really tight right now and I know that I’m going to want to continue going back even after the volunteer group study is over. But I know it’s just not feasible with my current financial situation. Have I mentioned that I think I need to pick up a part time job?

Two things (going on three) hit me hard in the finance area this year. The first being my medical insurance and with that being stated it should come to no surprise when I say it went up… way up. At first I didn’t think it was going to make much of a difference but here we are three months into it and I’m just barely squeaking by. The second thing was this class I’m taking. I had to pay upfront and in full before I even went to the first class and lets just say I barely had enough money for that. Had I not had that extra cash in my account at the time I wouldn’t have been able to afford it (like now). The third financial woe I’m currently facing is my cell phone died and I now need to purchase a new one. With the current state of my refrigerator and pending bills I just don’t know when I’ll be able to get one. Friday’s payday though (finally) so we’ll see what I can manage. Well, that’s enough complaining about that.

Last night after my workout I went to My Prince’s house to have dinner with him. Without my cell phone and my new after work busy schedule, My Prince and I have limited contact during the week, so I was missing him like crazy and we made a dinner date. Worry not dear reader, I chose wisely even though we ate out. I ordered a salad, grilled tilapia, with corn, and rice. I’m not a big fan of fish but when it came down to fish or chicken I decided I should go with the fish for once. I ate my whole salad, about half of my entrée, and My Prince ordered carrot cake for dessert and I only had two bites. I call that a success! Just to be on the safe side I weighed myself this morning and was pleased to see that I remained at the same weight. Usually after eating out I avoid the scale because I know the outcome won’t be any good. Now I just have to get through this weekend in the same manner.

I had such a great time with My Prince last night even with the rainstorm that blew through. We’re supposed to get more rainstorms today. One bad ramification of the storm was my power went out last night while I was watching a DVD and when I tried to turn my DVD player back on (once the power came back on) it wouldn’t turn on. I went to bed and hoped that this morning it would turn on but alas it would not. This probably goes in my ‘financial woes’ section because there’s no way the DVD player will make it any where near the top portion of ‘things I need to buy’ list *sigh*. Good thing I have so many books.

Waiting for Friday (payday),

~ Fat Chick

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-09-27T13:45:49Z</dcterms:modified>

Life is just SO much fun!

(Yes, you can mix a little bit of sarcasm in there as well as keeping it real.)

Today is Wednesday, which is the official weigh in day for the “Look Great In 2008” Challenge. Even with my bad food weekend I still managed to lose 4.2lbs. since last Wednesday. I’m not too excited about this because it’s probably 90% water and 10% fat that I actually lost. Also, I don’t know how accurate that is because last Thursday my scale’s battery died and I had to replace it. So, it’s very possible that it was giving me a bad reading last week and that’s why there’s such a big difference. But regardless this is what I’ve recorded so I’ll take it! lol

Last night in my class I had a quiz I know I mentioned earlier. I have one word to sum up that quiz “yikes”. I’m hoping I got most of the questions right. But there are a few questions that I had to bite my nails on. I live by the theory that it’s better to write something rather than nothing at all. After class I spoke with two of my fellow classmates and received similar feedback to my own take on the quiz and the questions. One of the women, lets call her Linda, in my opinion is one of the smartest people in the class and she currently runs her own business in the subject that the class is about. On the section I had the hardest time with on the quiz she admitted to leaving two of the five fields blank, so that made me feel a little better about myself. But on the same hand when I agreed with our other classmate about two of the answers that Linda didn’t think of that I put down on my paper as well she gave me this look like, “But you’re a computer technician. You don’t even do this for a living, how could you possibly have known that?” It was so obvious that when I walked away with my other classmate she made comment on it. *sigh* It’s a tough world out there. As if I need any more insecurities about what I’m doing. I had a small boost when my professor showed me my homework paper score: 100%. He seemed genuinely proud of me. Hell, so am I. It’s difficult doing this ‘double agent’ stuff. By day I’m a computer technician/network administrator, by night I’m well… I haven’t told you that just yet so lets say, “by night I’m a college student’.

Well, I started this post about three hours ago and am only now getting back to it. So lets wrap it up, shall we? I have another quiz next Tuesday for my class and I’m even more worried now that I know what the quizzes are like. Also, tonight I’m going back for round two at Curves and I think it’s going to be just fine. I don’t see why I wouldn’t enjoy it today as much as I did the first time.

That’s all I have right now. I’m sitting on hold, waiting for a teleconference that I attend once a month to start so I better jet before it starts.

Happy Hump Day,

~ Fat Chick

P.S. Please excuse any mistakes for I don’t have time to read over it. Thanks!

Last weekend I didn’t do well with food again. So, this week I’m going to come up with a game plan. My Prince and I eat out on the weekends and with all of those yummy, tempting, bad for you choices, how’s one supposed to resist? lol My plan i
