Well the boys are going to try and pull one off on home ice tonight. I do hope they succeed. All I can do is wait and see.

Hockey Dreams

Alternative Title: "Obsessed Much? 2"

Last night I had a dream that I could play ice hockey. I was perfectly comfortable ice skating (I wish) and was out there playing hockey with the likes of him:

At one point in my dream I was skating with Malkin and talking to him getting hockey tips from him. The funny part was I was speaking Russian to him since he isn’t that great speaking English just yet. Someone on the ice yelled over to me, “You know Malkin?” I smiled and held up my two crossed fingers and replied, “Yeah, we’re tight like this! If only he’d catch on to English though! My Russian can get a little rusty.”

Then I was warming up with the rest of the players on the ice doing laps around the ice. I was worn out and slower than usual. I told my teammates it was because I hadn’t eaten anything yet that day. Then, just as the game started I saw some of my other teammates not doing too much to help the team while a few others and me were skating our heads off. I looked at them and yelled, “Skate! Get out here and skate! We need your help!”

We just barely won that game. Afterwards, we celebrated in the locker room. By “we” I mean these guys and me:

If you’ve been following the hockey world you’ll know that my Penguins won the Eastern Conference Trophy, because we rock! Also, you’ll know that the Pens are heading to Detroit to play the first game of the Stanley Cup finals against the Red Wings. I am SO excited! Not that you couldn’t tell by my dream or anything, lol.

Our arena is opening its doors to us this Saturday night to watch the first game on the jumbo-tron for just $5.00. My Prince and I haven’t decided yet if we’re going to go. But it’s still pretty cool to think about.

I’ll be off this Monday for the holiday. I hope you all have a great weekend!

It’s that season again

Those of you who are among the faithful know which sporting event I’m referring to. Unless you are like me and only know because your boyfriend/husband/significant other loves this sporting event and you tag along simply because you get to spend time with that person, not because you actually care about the sport itself.

Yes, I’m talking about hockey.

It wouldn’t be so bad if 1.) the city of Pittsburgh actually had a good team who could win a few games instead of going to the game hoping for a nice giveaway to make the trip to the arena worth while and 2.) it’d be better if the season weren’t so l-o-n-g. I cherish the time in between the end of hockey season and the start of hockey season. It seems so blissful to me. I know I’m breaking hearts out there and possibly offending a person or two; but if you are into hockey and have seen the Penguins play, then you can empathize a little and understand where I’m coming from.

Tonight is the Penguins opening night and they even have a new owner. Will we see an improvement this season? Lets hope so other wise this Fat Chick is going to have to sit through another tortuous hockey season. Not to mention having to face THESE every time I go to a game. *sigh*

**Update: The Pens turned out to be awesome last night! I couldn't believe it. They shut out the Flyers 4 -0. This one of the best games in a LONG time that I've seen. Is it too soon to get my hopes up? lol
